Traveling can be hefty on the pocket book. A necessity for some, it can be a luxury for others. Transportation and lodging tend to be your highest costs when traveling but there are ways to save a dollar. Of course, staying with family or friends will probably always be the least expensive route but when that's not an option, your next best bet would be to reserve one of Baltimore's budget hotels.
The city has plenty of options to choose from. You may choose to stay close to the Inner Harbor under the roof of the Days Inn, Quality Inn or Holiday Inn. You may opt to bunk outside the city at Americas Best in Towson or somewhere in Laurel, a 25 minute drive from the city. The airport also offers plenty of budget options, and although a 20 minute drive from downtown Baltimore, has many inexpensive options that don't necessarily compromise on quality. Remember that you pay for convenience and location matters. You'll have to decide what's more important when you're traveling within a strict budget.
Your furnishings may be basic but you'll keep more money in your pocket to spend on dining, entertainment, and exploration. Besides, travel isn't solely about where you rest your head - it's about what you to discover and put in it.
