Warm up each winter with a good pour at two Boston wine events that spotlight what's great in the world of wine and food. Boston's finest winter wine tastings can be found at the weekend-long annual Boston Wine Expo and the winter-long annual Boston Wine Festival.
The Boston Wine Expo heats things up on President's Day weekend at the Seaport Hotel & World Trade Center. Here, you'll find a variety of tasting options, seminars and wine dinners that will let you sample some of the finest wines from around the world, while tasting bites from local celebrity chefs. Select from the extensive list of offerings that come with the Wine Expo and create your perfect weekend of winter "wining."
The Wine Expo's exploration offers several levels of entrance at varying price points. Those looking to circle the world of wine with the masses can purchase basic tickets for the Grand Tasting. A Grand Tasting will give you a wine tasting adventure around the Expo as well as the globe. While you sip from the more than 200 wineries and 1800 wines represented at the Expo, you can watch celebrity chefs duke it out on the dueling stages. True oenophiles should spring for Vintner's Reserve Lounge tickets and gain exclusive access to a private ballroom that offers a more intimate setting and wines from bottles retailing over $75. The food in the Vintner's Reserve Lounge pairs nicely with the unique wine offerings and is prepared by Boston's top restaurants.
Those who like to live the VIP life all the time should splurge for the Boston Wine Expo's VIP Experience. VIP Experience tickets include line bypass privileges, VIP coat check, a glass of champagne to get you started and a VIP lounge where comfy sofas, snacks and even more wine await your respite. No VIP Experience is complete without a little swag. Grab your complimentary bag as you make your way out.
The crown jewel of the Wine Expo is the Chef & Winemaker's Dinner Series. Tickets sell out quickly for these popular meals, where you have the opportunity to combine wine tasting with dinner in an intimate setting. Winemakers team up with some of Boston's best chefs to pair your pour with your plate and provide you with food and drink to remember.
The Wine Expo weekend rounds out with more than 30 seminars ranging in theme from "Wine 101" to food and wine parings, where you'll learn about the topic of your choice from wine industry experts. Buy tickets to one or several that peak your interest. Seminar at the Boston Wine Expo — Photo courtesy of Boston Wine Expo
The longer-running dinner (and brunch) themed wine event in Boston celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary in 2014. Starting in January and ending late March, the Boston Wine Festival is hosted by the Boston Harbor Hotel. The silver anniversary is set to be the best yet, with Chef Daniel Bruce preparing to wow attendees with his masterful hand in the kitchen.
Guests of the Boston Wine Festival will enjoy dinners hosted by well-known (and often exclusive) European and domestic winemakers for the almost 40 events of the Boston Wine Festival. Wines are paired with the culinary creations of Chef Bruce in an elegant setting that will educate while also treating you to an unforgettable evening of food and wine.
