Suspended over the Charles River, the Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Bridge serves as a gateway to downtown from areas north of the city. Named for both civil rights activist Lenny Zakim and the American colonists who fought the British in the Battle of Bunker Hill, the bridge is one of the widest cable-stayed bridges in the world. It's also part of Boston's famous Big Dig project.
