See & Do
Forty years ago the Cabo San Lucas Marina and environs were home to an old cannery and a few charter fishing boats. These days the area hosts a wide variety of boats and water-based activities companies. Cabo Dolphins is one of the most visited destinations, with their menu of dolphin swims and encounters proving popular with guests of all ages. Cabo Expeditions is another adventure company with offices on the Marina, and they offer an array of tours than include helmet diving, parasailing, and snuba (a hybrid of snorkeling and scuba).
The Sea of Cortez is famed for its abundant marine life, a fact not lost on area fishermen. Most restaurants along the Marina have menus featuring the delicious local seafood, as well as "you hook it, we'll cook it" policies, meaning they'll be glad to cook up your catch any way you like it. Lorenzillo's is the premier local lobster house, although recent arrival Baja Lobster Company is giving them a run for their money. Solomon's Landing is another popular seafood stop, as is Malecon neighbor Captain Tony's.
What better way to enjoy a refreshing cocktail than with a cool sea breeze ruffling your hair, and an up-close-and-personal view of all the private yachts dockside? There are several popular bars and lounges situated along the Marina boardwalk. Nowhere Bar is famous for their Ladies' Night promotion and late-night DJs, while Barometro offers one of the hipper lounge atmospheres in town, not to mention some great gourmet pizzas. For a perfect place to sip a glass of Pinot Noir, try Señor Sweets, one of the city's top fine dining restaurants and possessor of a stellar Puerto Paraiso location.
The Marina neighborhood boasts several of Cabo San Lucas' better hotels, two of which - Wyndham Los Cabos and Marina Fiesta - distinguish themselves with their elegant accommodations and amenities. In addition to hotels, the area also has many find condominium complexes that provide seasonal visitors with a central location and stunning sea and city views. Plaza Nautica and Marina Sol merit special attention, with the former featuring a full-service gym, and the latter an onsite convenience store.
When visiting Cabo San Lucas, you will hear a certain stretch of the Malecon referred to as the Marina Golden Zone. This is a high-end stretch of the boardwalk that encompasses many of the best shops and restaurants in town, and includes Puerto Paraiso Mall and the adjoining Luxury Avenue boutique complex. Puerto Paraiso is in many ways the center of the Marina area, with its distinctive tower serving as an orientational landmark for pedestrians. Luxury Avenue houses Cartier, Fendi, and other international boutiques.
