The wide, pedestrian-friendly marina boardwalk in Cabo San Lucas skirts a basin full of fishing boats and million dollar yachts, winding its way from the naval base around to the foot of Médano Beach. To walk from one end to the other takes the better part of 30 minutes, but offers easy access en route to many of the city’s finest shopping malls and plazas.
Puerto Paraíso is the signature shopping center on the boardwalk, with a wide variety of shops, galleries and boutiques. Visitors can work on their tropical wardrobe at Cabo Style, browse the latest ladies’ beach and swimwear fashions at Zingara and Tropica Calipso, search for new shoes at Baja Star, and find chic, sun-shading headwear at Cabo Hats. International chains are also represented – notably Kenneth Cole and Lacoste – and those seeking the toniest of brand names can continue their perambulations next door at Luxury Avenue, home to upscale standard bearers like Cartier, Fendi and Ultrajewels.
Plaza Gali is another popular marina-based shopping option. Located directly across from the cruise ship terminal, it serves as a sort of one-stop shopping destination for passengers on the way in or out of Cabo San Lucas. Fiesta Mexicana offers traditional arts and crafts, jewelry stores showcase Mexican silver and fire opals, and a duty free shop, pharmacy, and convenience store provide just about everything else. Plus, there is a Starbuck’s kiosk for morning caffeine fixes, and a Señor Frog’s handy for afternoon and evening pleasures like margaritas and fish tacos.
