A Cancun vacation normally consists of a lot of time spent at the beach and the pool, and why not? Cancun's balmy tropical weather, white sand beaches and aqua blue water all lend themselves to long, lazy days in the sun.
On the other hand, seven to ten days spent doing something all day every day, even if it is swimming and sunbathing, might get old. Or – Gasp! – it does rain in Cancun once and awhile. So what is there to do when there's no sun or you need a break from the sun?
Cancun offers two brand new indoor options for visitors and locals alike. Both are located in Malecon Americas in downtown Cancun, just a few blocks from the entrance to the Hotel Zone.

The first, Malecon Kids, is a party and recreation center, located outside the mall on Bonampak Avenue. These centers are popular in Cancun, but Malecon Kids is the newest on the scene.
The facility includes a huge, soft and safe playground; arts and crafts workshops; a video game room; a costume area; a special area for babies and small children; rooms for private birthday parties; a snack bar; a reading area; a gift shop; and even a small salon where mommy can get a mani/pedi. Most activities (including the playground) are open to parents so that they can join their munchkins in the fun.
Many days, there are magic shows or shows featuring popular characters like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles or the Minions. The newest addition to Malecon Kids is a mini disco! It's never too early to get those kids ready for Cancun's world-famous nightlife.

Also located in Malecon Americas, but inside on the third floor, is Sky Zone, an indoor trampoline park that is open to all ages.
After registering, paying and buying your "sky socks" for about USD $2, the whole family can jump away all those extra calories that were consumed at the buffet in the resort. Sessions of 30, 60 and 120 minutes are available.
There's an area where visitors can practice dunking a basketball and another for dodgeball, where there are even trampolines on the walls. Dodgeball teams and tournaments are available as well.
A family favorite is the area where you can jump into a pool full of foamies, aka Foam Zone. There are also "Skyrobics" classes available.
Sky Zone also offers packages for private functions like birthdays and team-building activities.
To get to Malecon Americas, take the R1 or the R2 bus to the first stop downtown. Then take a taxi or walk 10 to 15 minutes along Bonampak Avenue.
