If you stay in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, you’ll experience first-class accommodations and restaurants. But don't hesitate to visit downtown Cancun as well, which has a lot to offer like charming eateries that may not be as well known, but shouldn't be missed.

Les Cepages just celebrated its four-year anniversary and is one of the amazing little restaurants tucked away in downtown Cancun. The contemporary French fusion fare is prepared with a local touch. Specialties include roasted rack of lamb with mint demi-glaze and comte cheese polenta. Yum! They use the freshest high quality ingredients and combine them with care and imagination. The result is a wide range of subtle flavors and textures.

The interior design of the eatery is understated and contemporary, and the ambiance a relaxed escape from the heat and traffic just outside. Chef Salvador Luna, who studied at the Culinary Institute of America and also trained in France for a year, personally greets all visitors. Service is extremely attentive.

There is a wine list featuring both French and international wines. A five-course tasting menu with wine is also available. Prices are half of what you would find for a comparable restaurant in the Hotel Zone or in a large U.S. city.

Finish off your exquisite meal with chocolate truffles or a dark chocolate soufflé (made from scratch!). . .heaven.
