Listed on the National Register of Historic Places the Webster House was built in 1885, as the Webster School. Today it is one of the oldest public school buildings in Kansas City. Full of fabulous antiques and classic architectural features, the restaurant's inventive lunch starters may include grilled jumbo shrimp served with textures and flavors of corn, red pepper, fingerling potato and chorizo and rich Parmesan Beurre Blanc; or Southern Fried Green tomatoes, served with tomato jam and pimento cheese. You can enjoy a Heritage Pulled Pork Sandwich or an open-faced cod sandwich accented with pineapple tartar and chipotle salsa, arugula and tomato. Those with hearty appetites will enjoy marinated grilled hanger steak or oven roasted chicken breast with buttermilk mashed potatoes and a symphony of vegetables complemented by warm bacon vinaigrette. This is an inviting place to savor a meal prepared with fresh ingredients and creative flavor combinations.
