When you live in a city like Las Vegas, taking a day trip out to Laughlin might seem a little odd. After all, the Nevada town is known for its casino-resorts, attracting nearly two million visitors a year. But like Las Vegas, there’s so much more than just gambling for visitors to enjoy.
Located 90 miles south of Las Vegas along the Colorado River, Laughlin is quickly becoming a popular day trip destination with Las Vegans, thanks to its many affordable dining and entertainment options. While Las Vegas may lay claim to some of the world’s top celebrity chefs and entertainers, Laughlin boasts thriving dining and entertainment scenes that are arguably just as enjoyable for a fraction of the price.
In fact, The Colosseum at Caesars Palace’s newest headliner, Reba McEntire (who kicks off her residency with Brooks & Dunn in June), performed at the new Laughlin Event Center just this past March! Fellow country superstars Toby Keith and Tim McGraw also recently performed at the 9,300-seat venue, located just west of the Laughlin Outlet Mall.
Given its picturesque location along the Colorado River, it should come as no surprise that Laughlin is known for its many outdoor activities. Guests can rent jet skis and take them out on the water, go on a guided horseback ride along the river or enjoy a leisurely walk on the North Reach Trail.
Informative boat tours are also available on the Colorado River, with the USS Riverside taking guests on a relaxing 90-minute excursion past "Casino Row" and up to Davis Dam.

Visitors can dine at several restaurants along the waterfront, too, like the always popular Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. at Golden Nugget Laughlin, perfect for lunch. Guests can test their Forrest Gump knowledge while dining on a menu of seafood favorites like the Shrimp Shack Mac & Cheese.
Non-seafood items are available as well, including the tasty Mama’s Southern Fried Chicken, so there’s sure to be something for everyone to enjoy.
Guests can also soak up the views from inside at Aquarius Casino Resort’s Windows on the River Buffet. Its champagne brunch is truly delightful, and the friendly staff complements the striking surroundings perfectly.
For dinner, The Steakhouse at Tropicana Laughlin easily rivals some of Las Vegas’ best chophouses, offering an elegant meal complete with its Signature Steakhouse Salad Cart. Guests can choose the ingredients they want in their salad from a wooden paddle-like menu and watch as the salad is made right before their eyes.
For a more casual dining experience, Bumbleberry Flats at the western-themed Pioneer Hotel & Gambling Hall serves tasty American comfort food with a Cajun twist 24 hours a day. It's one of Laughlin’s best new restaurants; nothing on its mouthwatering menu disappoints!
If you’re looking to relax, Laughlin Ranch Spa, located just minutes away from the Laughlin Strip on the Arizona side of the river, offers an array of soothing services for guests to choose from in a peaceful, secluded environment.

Laughlin Ranch is also home to the David Druzisky-designed Laughlin Ranch Golf Club, showcasing stunning desert, mountain and river views as well as gorgeous greens that run through deep desert arroyos.
With so much to see and do, you might just want to spend the night in Laughlin and drive back the next day. Luckily, rooms at its casino-resorts are quite affordable, and both Harrah’s Laughlin and the Golden Nugget Laughlin have newly renovated rooms visitors can stay in.
Harrah’s Laughlin also boasts its own private beach for guests to enjoy along the river, complete with lounge chairs and umbrellas.
