Rio Spa & Salon Offers the Perfect Las Vegas Antidote

New treatment is just what Dr. Feelgood ordered after a night on the town

Rio Spa & Salon may not be the biggest spa in Las Vegas, but it is one of the best.

This intimate retreat, located inside the Rio All-Suite Hotel & Casino, offers spa-goers a touch of Hollywood glam, with framed black-and-white photos of iconic celebrities like Elvis Presley on the walls, as well as quotes from movie stars like Sophia Loren.

And now, the spa also boasts the perfect antidote for those worn out after a night in the bustling city.

Upon entering the separate men’s and women’s locker areas, guests are asked to give the spa attendant one of their shoes in exchange for a pair of sandals they can wear throughout the facility. Guests are then assigned a locker and given a complimentary scrub to use in the shower.

Those planning on enjoying the spa’s facilities – which include a sauna, steam room and Jacuzzi – are also given a bucket with iced washcloths, canned juices and sliced oranges to enjoy while unwinding in the heated areas. Hot and cold water, apples and pretzels are available, too, in the spa’s relaxation lounge.

Due to the spa’s small size, visitors never have to venture far for what they need, though truthfully they rarely have to go anywhere thanks to the attentive staff. One of the spa attendants is always close by to check on guests and see if there’s anything they need, be it another juice or an ice-cold towel.

The staff never feels intrusive, though, so spa-goers can still relax without feeling like they’re constantly being bothered.

The spa’s stellar service is only matched by its impressive menu of services, offering a range of massages, facials and body treatments. One of its newest services, perfect after a night on the town, is appropriately named The Antidote ($140).

Ideal for those who need to detoxify, the 50-minute service starts with a dry brush exfoliation to remove dead skin cells and start one's lymph flow, which helps with the detoxification process. You’ll lie face up on the massage table, as the aesthetician dry brushes your arms, legs, feet and stomach.

Then, some of emerginC’s phytocell detox mask made with French green clay and seaweed is applied to the exfoliated areas before you’re asked to sit up on the table so that your back can be brushed and the mask can be applied there as well.

Once the mask is on, you’ll be wrapped up in warm towels and a Mylar blanket to help open up your pores so that the French green clay, spirulina and kombucha – which remove impurities and toxins from the body – can work their magic.

While you lightly sweat in your cocoon, a 25-minute Rapid Results facial is performed. The facial includes a natural fruit acid and lactic acid peel that is good for pigmentation issues, breakouts, sun damage, fine lines, wrinkles and uneven tone and texture, leaving skin soft, smooth and simply radiant.

When the facial is complete, you’ll be given a few moments to relax before being unwrapped. Following a quick rinse in the shower (conveniently located inside the treatment room), you’ll return to the treatment table for the final part of your service: an application of emerginC’s grape stem cell, white tea and seaweed body butter.

Boasting jojoba seed oil and vitamins A, C and E, it helps rehydrate, repair and re-nourish the body. So by the time the treatment is complete, you’ll feel revitalized from head toe.

For best results, you’ll want to keep the body butter on for 24 hours, so it’s recommended you don’t use the steam room or hot tub after your service. (The sauna is okay.)

Be sure to arrive early so you have plenty of time to enjoy everything the spa has to offer.
