Southern Nevada Zoological-Botanical Park (or, more familiarly, the Las Vegas Zoo) is located just 15 minutes northwest of the Strip. It's an ideal destination if you want a respite from city glitz, and the 3-acre park presents more than 150 species of plants and animals. As a result, visitors get to see everything from farm animals to more exotic creatures. Habitats mimic each animal's natural environment, allowing zoo-goers (and especially kids) to see how animal residents live in the wild. On-hand are Barbary apes, talking parrots, lions and tigers, ostriches, chimps, and more.
