Tahoe Expert Many visitors to the Lake Tahoe area want to see the lake from a boat and while the two largest boats on the lake (the M.S. Dixie and the Tahoe Queen) are the most popular ways to boat across the lake, there are a few other boats (one of them new) where you can see the Tahoe waters in style.

The Rum Runner is the newest boat to South Lake Tahoe. This 55-foot yacht is equipped with two decks. One is enclosed and great for parties and winter, and the other is wide open which allows you to take in the glories of the South Shore. The Rum Runner is supplied by the Beacon Restaurant with beverages like wine, beer and, of course, the famous Rum Runner cocktail. These can be purchased, but you are allowed to bring your own food. The Rum Runner sails from the Camp Richardson Marina.

Another stylish boat is the Safari Rose. This boat is one of the most luxurious boats on Lake Tahoe. It was built in 1959 and she's 80 feet long with 6 bathrooms a dining room and a heated salon with a full bar. Before coming to Tahoe, the Safari Rose sailed on the Great Lakes, Florida and the Caribbean, through the Panama Canal and up to Puget Sound and Alaska. The Safari Rose launches from the Tahoe Keys Marina.

Both of these boats will take you on a tour of the South Shore, Emerald Bay and the West Shore. They are both available for weddings and other special events.
