Restaurants and bars, shops, residences, ski runs and lifts and a main square share space with the other mountain amenities of this world-renowned ski resort.
Spruced Gift & Home is the latest retail shop in the village, and it reflects the mountain lifestyle with gift ideas, home items, toys and handmade items from local artists.
The store also offers a unique array of home décor, stationary, gadgets for guys, children’s toys and a mix of American-made and European-imported items.

“What’s unique about the store is the mix of products,” says Director of Retail & Rental at The Village at Squaw Valley Gretchen Kielas. “We walk the line of serious and serious fun. We buy with a sense of humor but also a sense of style. We buy for the store what we’d like to unwrap at our next birthday or hang on our walls at our own home.”
Some of the items in the store are purely Tahoe: hand-painted wooden signs proclaiming love for “Big Blue,” Tahoe-themed hand towels and laser-cut birch maps featuring the bathymetric lines and depths of various waterways and lakes including Lake Tahoe.

Kielas also mentions that Spruced Gift & Home shoppers should pick up the following: a set of French cheese plates, gold-rimmed beer drinking glasses, travel pillows, local hand-forged artisan jewelry, and rescued wine candles with a percentage of the proceeds going back to the local Humane Society.
Spruced also sells furniture pieces in the store. The items in Spruced range from about $1 to $300 for a piece of furniture. The store also will pack up your items and ship to your home.
