Here, we distill the best businesses down to a special selection of ten. These places promise a stellar experience and a taste of the city that you just can't miss.

9 Brasilia Grill
The spread at this casual Brazilian restaurant is guaranteed to take on and handle even the biggest appetites. To whet your palate, the gigantic salad bar features fresh, tasty tidbits like aurgula, palm hearts and olives. For those unaccustomed to the churrascaria concept, the dining experience takes a deliciously exciting turn, starting with a seafood buffet that features specialties like grilled cod and shrimp in yucca sauce. Don't get carried away there, though -- the rodízio selection, which is brought by your table, includes tenderloin, ribs, sausage, lamb, pork and chicken! (973-589-8682)

8 Iberia Peninsula Restaurant
If you want a Spanish/Portuguese menu featuring an array of surf and turf options, Iberia is your place. Regulars keep coming for the huge servings and the opportunity for a lively dining experience. Known for the rodízio. Business casual. (973-344-5611, 973-344-1657)

7 Don Pepe
Housed in a large complex just off a busy Newark street, Don Pepe provides a casual dining experience. The dining room is usually bustling and locals frequent the restaurant for large offerings, including great seafood choices. Business casual. Reservations suggested. (973-623-4662)

6 Casa Vasca
Casa Vasca is considered one of the best Spanish restaurants in Newark, and it is certainly one of the busiest. Known for a Spanish-Basque menu that includes wonderfully presented seafood fare and succulent meat dishes. Features a full bar, comfortable dining room and excellent service. Business casual. (973-465-1350)

5 Theater Square Grill
This posh restaurant in the New Jersey Performing Arts Center has so much to offer! A menu with New American influence and specialty seafood dishes is sure to delight. An excellent pre-show dinner choice and an ideal spot for tasty appetizers after the show. Add views of the Hudson and one of the great Newark views of the NYC skyline, and you have a superb dining experience. In the summer when focus changes to the outdoors, Calçada fits the bill with an inviting outdoor kitchen with a wood burning stove and a raw bar. For a casual Paris inspired experience, visit The Bistro cafe. Reservations are strongly recommended for all three restaurants. (973-642-1226)

4 Adega Grill
This attractive restaurant, whose interior features stone fireplaces and archways, wrought iron gates, and walls painted in earthy yellows, is one of the best reasons to venture out to Ironbound. Fabulous Portuguese and Spanish cuisine and wine are the restaurant's specialties (its name, after all, is Portuguese for "wine cellar"), and most of the top dishes focus on fresh fish, seafood or organic meats. The retro-inspired lounge area, meanwhile, is a cool place to hang out, enjoy drinks and make a little conversation. (973-589-8830)

3 Assaggini Di Roma
One of Newark's more established and well-respected Italian restaurants, Assaggini is proverbably packed at lunch and dinner, a testament no doubt to the kitchen crew's knack for delivering topnotch seafood and pasta dishes. A certain old school sensibility engulfs the place, from the choice of music down to the friendliness of the staff, and patrons can always count on having a memorable visit. NB Assaggini Di Roma is a very popular lunch spot for lawyers and business types. (973-466-3344)

2 27 Mix
This restaurant and bar, whose cool, colorful interior is the brainchild local designer Madeline Ruiz, serves as a gathering place for Newark's best and brightest. They're attracted, no doubt, by the opportunity of sipping high-end cocktails and listening to live jazz in the stylish bar area. It's the food, though, that truly earns the marks. Eclectic and flavorful, their brand of American cuisine borrows influences and inspirations from several regions, leading to ditties like the shrimp po'boy, Cuban sandwich, chicken enchiladas and yellow fin with grilled corn polenta. The kitchen stays open until 11pm. (973-648-0643)

1 Fornos of Spain
This casual spot is popular for sangria and authentic Spanish cuisine. For over 20 years, Fornos has offered generous portions served by an attentive waitstaff. The wood-walled dining room adds comfort and intimacy. There is also an outdoor garden (when weather permits) for relaxing with drinks and conversation. Business casual. (973-589-4767)
