10 Celebrations Village West
Having moved from their Canyon Road location, this renowned eatery now has a renovated space formerly occupied by Bert's La Taqueria. Dine al fresco in the large, walled garden patio or inside amidst plenty of comfortable booths in a light, bright setting with warm colors, wooden furnishings, original art and plenty of plants. 9 French Pastry Shop
Can you believe it? A real French patisserie and café in the heart of Santa Fe! Serving Santa Fe's international community since 1974, this intimate café is where to find fresh, authentic croissants, tarts and crepes bursting with colorful fruits, and rich café au lait. 8 Carlos's Gosp'l Café
Gospel music wafts from the speakers of this popular and relaxed café serving American fare. Soups and sandwiches are consistently good, but best known for its Hangover Stew, a tasty and therapeutic combination of potatoes, corn, green chile and Monterey Jack cheese. 7 Tia Sophia's

6 Guadalupe Café
This charming and friendly place serves a wide variety of dishes from traditional northern New Mexican food to traditional American standards. Is the hacienda feel your thing? Try fireplace or patio seating for a bona fide Santa Fe experience. Recognized locally for reasonably priced entrees and generous portions. Try the chalupa plate or the sopapillas. 5 La Choza
This local favorite is the sister restaurant to the extremely popular and often crowded "Shed" ("la choza" in Spanish) Restaurant. Authentically Mexican menu and daily specials are displayed on a chalkboard. (505-982-0909)

4 Il Piatto
Situated in a small storefront, Il Piatto is an exceptionally comfortable restaurant offering superb traditional and grilled Italian dishes, antipasti, pastas, and delectable homemade tiramisu, and baked chocolate mousse with blackberries. (505-984-1091)

3 The Compound Restaurant
Located on Santa Fe's charming Canyon Road, The Compound serves gourmet, continental dishes in a historic white-washed adobe with white vigas and ceiling planks punctuated with colorful art and light-wood furniture. A brick patio is perfect for summer dining or social events and lends itself to the "compound" name. Since 2000, chef and owner Mark Kiffin has served a rich menu that includes Organic Scottish Salmon with Riesling Apple Sauce, Muscovy Duck Breast with Rhubarb-Ginger Compote and Grilled Rack of Lamb with Pearl Cous-Cous. 2 Pranzo Italian Grill
At first bite, you'll be transported directly to Italy! Pranzo's draws its name from the Italian word which translates "the main meal of the day." Here, it will probably be the best one as well as you can choose from meals with ingredients like fresh portobello mushrooms, succulent goat cheese, roasted bell peppers, and tangy sun-dried tomatoes. 1 Tune-Up Cafe
Although Dave no longer owns this inexpensive, friendly restaurant, his name remains on a few menu items. Designer hamburgers and honest-to-goodness french fries are the house specialty. If you are in the mood for something a little different, the El Salvadoran owner's homemade pupusas are a favorite of those "in the know." The Tune-Up is also known for its great guacamole and chips.
