Opened in 2004, Per Se is a close second to Le Bernadin. The name comes from an interview in which restaurant mastermind Thomas Keller was asked if his new restaurant would be a repeat of much acclaimed French Laundry. He responded by saying it would not be the same "per se," and the name stuck. Boasting a comfortable yet luxurious interior and the best views of lower Central Park possible, this American Bistro is a New York staple. It also earned a coveted four star review in the New York Times, a Michelin three star rating and a 2011 James Beard Award for Outstanding Service.
