Portland, OR, has become a foodie city, so any visit here wouldn't be complete without visiting a few of Portland’s marvelous restaurants. One of the top ways to enjoy some of Portland’s finest restaurants is to visit during Portland Dining Month, when restaurants across the city put on their best.
This year, Portland Dining Month is arriving three months earlier, lasting throughout the month of March instead of June. This year’s change will help restaurants fill seats during a typically slower month and help guests avoid the atrociously long wait times that often occur during the summer months. It is a win-win for everyone.
Portland Dining Month should also help you narrow down where you want to dine while in town.
All month long in March, at least a hundred of Portland’s hottest restaurants will be offering a three-course meal - an appetizer, entrée and dessert for just $29. This fixed price makes dining at many of Portland’s restaurants more affordable. Some of the restaurants are evening including a bonus fourth course.
Not only is restaurant month a great way to experience Portland restaurants, it is also a great way to save money, too. Depending on which restaurant you decide to dine at, you could potentially be saving quite a bit of money.
For example, it is usually around $70 a person to eat a five-course meal at Genoa. So visiting during dining month will save you $41 per person, if you can settle for just three courses of their Pacific Northwest Italian fare!
Besides Genoa, there are many other popular restaurants joining in on the fun. Acadia is once again participating, offering their incredible creole/Cajun food, as is Departure, which features exquisitely prepared Asian fusion cuisine.

Aviary, another tremendous Asian fusion restaurant, is being highly recommended as a must during Portland Dining Month by local food bloggers. Or try Oba for a romantic evening in their candle-lit Hacienda Room, while enjoying flavorful Latin cuisine.
This year, there are even restaurants with award-winning chefs participating. These include at least three restaurants with James Beard winners for Best Chef Northwest: Higgins Restaurant, Imperial and Paley’s Place. This will be Higgins Restaurant’s first time partaking in Portland Dining Month, and they are serving their original menu from 1994 to celebrate their 20th anniversary. Making an advanced reservation is a good idea.
Enjoying dining month is fun and good for your pocket book. It is also a simple way to give back. For each reservation made through OpenTable, Portland Dining Month will make a donation to the Oregon Food Bank.
