Designed to be just like a traditional tavern, it offers up an experience that is simple, yet still satisfying, and upscale – without being pretentious.

Brick and Mortar was a long time in the making. The brainchild of Mike Welsh – co-founder of Franklin Mortgage and Investment Company – it hit upon a few delays before finally opening its doors, but now promises to be a strong player in its Center City neighborhood.
Located in the Goldtex Building, this food and drink spot offers visitors, locals and passersby a great venue to just be themselves while tossing back a beverage of choice or a delicious meal.
Options in the food department include things like asparagus salad, hoisin hanger steak, house-made buckwheat linguine, pork bundles, burgers and French fries. Desserts and beverages of choice finish off the meal with flair.
Locate Brick and Mortar easily nearby the Pennsylvania Convention Center and other areas of Center City, and head on in to its roomy interior.
You'll find a decor that's remnant of the way the building was used before its renovation, with cool touches like graffiti on the wall and a relaxing and up-to-date feel.
The bar is large and located on its own, with tables to dine at nearby. Decide whether you'll sit at the bar or get a table, and leave the rest to the qualified and friendly staff.

Once you've ordered and gotten your beverage of choice, you're free to sit back and engage with the company you came with. After all, that's the point of the tavern.
Enjoy reconnecting with an old friend, meet up with new ones, stop by with a coworker, get a drink or an appetizer with a neighbor or simply make a visit after a long, hard day. The place is great to unwind in. Regrouping with people you care about or grabbing a bite to eat with folks you just met is also encouraged.
Whatever your plan, start the night out in this great addition to the Center City eating and drinking scene. You'll appreciate the ability you have not only to come here just as you are, but also to enjoy an experience that's worth bragging about and introducing to others. That's certainly worth putting this place on your list of spots to try.
See you there.
