This small bay on Costa Brava is nothing less than spectacular. With so many beautiful seaside towns and pristine beaches on Catalonia's coast, it's hard to choose which one, if any, in particular, shines above the rest. Aigua Blava, however, definitely makes its mark. It's renowned for its blue water, white sand and charming vibe.
Located just outside the quaint and posh town of Begur and only a short drive from Barcelona, Aigua Blava is a popular mooring place for sailing and motorboats. It's surrounded by delicious and mainly seafood restaurants, all overlooking the water, as well as a few paradors, or luxury hotels, situated in historic buildings such as monasteries and castles.

If you're looking to get out of the city and enjoy a day up the coast, sun tanning on a stunning beach, then Aigua Blava is an excellent choice. It's perfect for spending hours reading, relaxing, swimming and eating tasty dishes.
Once you've had enough of the sun and feel like going for a stroll, Aigua Blava is just a stone’s throw from Begur. Although it caters to a slightly more upscale clientele, Begur is unpretentious and inviting. Its windy alleyways and cobblestone streets provide for a very warm and easy atmosphere.
It's full of boutique shops, delicious restaurants and trendy hotels. So if you're reeled in and decide to stay the night, there are plenty of options within Begur itself as well as along the beach of Aigua Blava for where to stay.
Some notable ones to consider include Hotel Aigua Blava and Aiguaclara Hotel, both of which are situated along the beach, overlooking the sea. Parador de Aigua Blava is also very well known and ideal for couples.
As for getting to Aigua Blava and Begur from Barcelona, it’s really easy. It's best to rent a car, as it's a short two-hour drive (give or take). And with the car, you're given plenty of flexibility if you want to stop at some of the towns along the way. Some places to consider checking out if you have time include Calella Palafrugell and Tossa De Mar.
If you're not in the mood to rent a car, then you can take a bus directly to Begur and from there take a taxi to Aigua Blava.
This is one of the most gorgeous beaches not only along the Costa Brava, but in the whole of Spain. It's hard to find waters as turquoise and blue as that of Aigua Blava.
