Situated in the rustic old fisherman village of Barceloneta, the restaurant serves some of the city's best paella, fish and seafood – all based on local, organic and fresh produce.
A new addition to its already impressive menu is Barraca's mouthwatering vegan paella. A phenomenon that hasn't quite taken off in Barcelona (yet one on the brink of explosion), the vegan culture is slowly gaining speed, with visionary establishments like Barraca jumping on the bandwagon.

Not only does it offer a tasty vegan paella, but the restaurant is also incredibly accommodating and eager to adapt for dietary restrictions and create vegan options that aren't on the menu.
Owned by Tribu Woki, Barraca is just one of several restaurants in this group that caters to vegans. Carmelitas Tapas and its sister Carmelitas Vermuteria are both located in the Raval neighborhood, where they offer a great variety of tapas, including several vegan options like artichokes and vegan canelloni. Barraca's "other half" is located in Castelldefels on a beautiful beach, about 45 minutes outside of the city.
In addition to its restaurants Tribu Woki maintains the Woki Organic Market in Plaza Catalunya, as well as its Woki Playa Barceloneta, which is quite close to Barraca. This spot serves fast food from fresh, local products, which can be found in the store.
In all of Tribu Woki's restaurants and shops, there's a special emphasis placed on ensuring that vegan options are available, as this is extremely important to the owners.
"Tribu Woki’s ecological component is very important to us, and all the food you’ll find in our stores is obtained by traditional methods and without the use of synthetic or chemical substances," they say on their website.
Not only are the owners interested in the nutritional upside of eating organic, but they're also conscious of the reduced environmental impact it creates, as well as the promotion of a fairer economy for the producer.
If you're looking for a wonderful seafood or beachside meal in a place that's flexible, accommodating and vegan friendly, then Barraca is an ideal choice.
Be sure to ask for a seat by the window, as you'll get front-row seats overlooking the sea and the boardwalk. After lunch, go for a stroll along the beach or discover some "old man pubs" amongst Barceloneta's hidden alleyways and tiny nooks.
