Barcelona likes to do things differently and so Valentines Day falls in April rather than February. San Jordi is a celebration of Spain's Patron Saint George and in honor of this day men buy their women flowers (roses to be exact) and women buy the men books. In one day Barcelona sells more roses than it does in a year; this is possibly one of the highest grossing holidays in Barcelona, as the streets are lined with vendors selling ancient literary books amongst a host of other literary options. The roses also come in various colours and are every step on every street and around every corner.
