One of the best things about Memphis in the fall is the weather: warm, 70-ish degree days with cool evenings, clear skies and gorgeous sunsets. And one of the best places to catch that sunset is on the roof of the famed Peabody Hotel. Guests can go to the roof almost any time, but for a few Thursday nights in the fall, it's the place to see and be seen.

Throughout the summer, the Peabody rooftop is home to a Thursday night, radio station-sponsored party – and that season has been extended this fall, to the delight of all. The crowd is young and hip, but those on either side of 40 can be found as well. The music is a mix of live bands and mixed by a DJ, and there's usually a theme too.
Oktoberfest is the theme for the October 17th party, with a menu of German sausages, sauerkraut, warm pretzels and even potato salad; the drink special is not a German beer (although beer is available), but rather a rum drink for a mere $4.
On October 31st, the theme is, not surprisingly, Halloween. And the band is Dr. Zarr's Amazing Funk Monster, a great cover band. The menu includes Halloween faves like hot dogs and pronto pups, and there's a costume contest as well.
The parties run from 6 - 11 pm, with ladies and hotel guests admitted free until 7 pm. Tickets are $10 - $15 per person and include one drink; VIP tickets are available for a higher price.
