When Haymakers & Company – brought on by one of the city’s more established clothiers, J. Michaels – opened its stylish doors, it was a new concept for men’s shopping in Nashville. This multi-purpose store meets various needs for its clients, including the need to hang out and relax as they shop.
For years, Nashville was a divided front, casual wear on one side, workaday suits on the other. The new boutique just for men not only combines the two, but it also adds an edge to it that's all about local luxe and Southern sensibility, which men of all ages can appreciate.

J. Michaels owners Mike Mahaffey and Jim Brandon, along with associate Miranda Priest, opened the doors to Haymakers & Company in summer 2014. The grand opening celebration in August made stylish waves.
Already, men in town are making it their go-to spot for classic, well-made pieces from American brands – like the recognizable Levi’s Vintage Clothing – and other lesser-known but no less impressive brands, like Allen Edmonds boots from Wisconsin and Hertling’s Brooklyn-based trousers.
Ready-to-wear items combine with custom clothing options from select American-made manufacturers, as well as Eidos Napoli's inaugural custom collection this fall.
Special events like a pop-up trunk show with Moore and Giles selling their wares out back from an Airstream trailer only add to the uniqueness of the brands offered.

Inside the store, clothes are displayed in a way that visually appeals but doesn’t confuse. For example, jeans are thoughtfully shelved, boots are lined up in a row.
And many details make it a perfect hang for men: a rich leather coach to relax on, a pool table and a projection screen. These all make shopping excursions fun, especially since drinks are on the house.
Customer service is key at the West End retailer, and that's most apparent in the full-service barbershop. Reservations can be made through the store’s website for a shave and freshening up.

Basically, no matter what Nashville event that needs attending, they have what it takes to make you a standout attendee in all the right ways.
Of course, it isn’t all about fashion. Home furnishings and décor items are also for sale, allowing customers to bring home that laidback Nashville vibe, epitomized to perfection at Haymakers & Company.
A perfect accompaniment to next door’s J. Michael’s and their older clientele, Haymakers & Company only goes to show that looking good never goes out of style, and multi-generational fashion trends are much appreciated.
