Included in the regular admission fee, First Thursday Late Nights at the Perot Museum allow patrons not only to see their favorite regular exhibits under the stars, but also to gain free access to special programming in the evening.
One example of the special programming includes the theme of Sea Creatures in November. This takes visitors on an exploration of the ocean and sea creatures, as they make their own sea animals and learn about how animals have adapted to the environment over time.
In December 2015, First Thursday Late Nights will feature the Festive theme and show visitors how science and the holidays go hand in hand. You and your kids can get into the fun holiday spirit by making snow, creating an electrical circuit card for family or friends and making tinsel floats.
In January 2016, the Perot invites you to learn more about color, including exploring rainbows, investigating the color spectrum and creating projects with LEDs.
While you're at the museum, don't miss the permanent exhibits and halls that are sure to delight visitors of all ages. Some of the main highlights include a children's museum with a dinosaur dig, indoor playground, a huge sandbox and indoor camping area.
Adults and kids alike will love the hall of gems and minerals, which features a 5-foot geode, along with amazing stones and crystals from around the world.
Future geologists will love Earth Hall, where you can experience an earthquake. Also not to be missed is the Texas Instruments Engineering and Innovation Hall, where future explorers can build robots and create their own digital music.
Sports fans will love the Lamar Hunt Family Sports Hall, where they can see if they could outrun a T-Rex or throw a football as well as a pro player.
Take in a movie at the on-site IMAX theater, and plan on spending a little time at the gift shop, which is one of Dallas' best!
The First Thursday series starts in October 2015. It will take place every month on an ongoing basis.
