If you're planning on ringing in the new year in Dallas, and you haven't decided what to do yet, then make plans to head on down to the American Airlines Center for the Big D NYE party. This free annual event is truly one of the most exciting parties in all of Dallas, and it's one of the biggest New Year's Eve parties in the entire Southwest. It's the Texan version of Times Square, and Texans like their fireworks show huge and their parties fun! The 2012 party at — Photo courtesy of Big D NYE
The Big D NYE at the AAC party is located right in the middle of Victory Plaza at the American Airlines Center. It features free admission, which is unheard of, and guests can enjoy live music played on multiple stages, as well as the Stream Energy Fireworks Spectacular show at midnight. Some of this year's featured bands include Forever the Sickest Kids, Pentatonix, LEOGUN, Breaking Southwest and DJ Ro Parrish.
Want to get on TV? This is the best party in Dallas to do just that, as the WFAA-TV Channel 8 Studio is in Victory Park and will be broadcasting live coverage of the event starting at 10:30 p.m. There will be multiple entertainers and special guests at this popular event, and most performances will be displayed on gigantic HD screens throughout the plaza. Music will be blasted through with state-of-the art sound systems.
If you arrive with an appetite, you won't go hungry, as there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance of the American Airlines Center, along with food and beverage tents situated around the plaza.
This party is a good choice for visitors of all ages, as the entertainment is definitely rated PG, and the increased police presence makes it a safe place for tweens and teenagers who are accompanied by their parents. Don't forget to bring your party hats, noisemakers and New Year's Eve beads!
Visitors and guests can park at one of many parking lots around the Victory Park neighborhood and at adjacent parking lots in the West End and downtown Dallas. If you want to avoid the fuss and cost of parking, then take the Green Line DART train to Victory Station.
If you decide to skip the event, you can still pretend you're there by watching it on Channel 8 from your living room. You'll get to experience the headliner act and the awesome fireworks show from the best seat in the house!
