All organic and all amazingly tasty, the breakfast specialties are praised far and wide. 6 Avalon Diner
It's all casual at this appealing diner, which sits adjacent to a local drug store. Farm-fresh breakfasts and hot plate lunches have kept Avalon humming along since 1938, and there's no signs of its stopping. 5 Harry's Restaurant

Named for Walter Berryhill, who made and hawked tamales locally during the early part of the century, this Houston-based chain capitalizes on his delicious recipes. The quaint restaurant is usually busy on weekends, but don't be put off by its numerous patrons. It's worth the wait! The signature tempura-fried fish taco is a menu favorite, and mouthwatering breakfast tacos get a flavor punch with pico de gallo, chorizo, and rice and beans. 3 Gorditas Aguascalientes
Bored with the same old breakfast options? Shake up your routine at this fantastic eatery, whose selection of central Mexican dishes is sure to provide culinary relief. The quaint place serves delicious breakfast tacos, fashioned of homemade tortillas and stuffed with chorizo, eggs, and potatoes. Classic huevos rancheros are also a treat, and even more unusual (to the uninitiated) offerings like tacos made with roasted beef head demand attention too. Airy, open, and bright, this busy restaurant unites fabulous food, impeccable service, and terrific people-watching. Happily, the accomplished and ever-changing menu is a sensory treat any time of day. It features gourmet salads, wood-oven pizzas, and small and large plates offering beef arepas, pan-seared Texas redfish, and mustard-molasses glazed chicken. Brunch offers omelets, French toast, and dishes like scrambled eggs with either grilled steak or crab cakes, and tempura shrimp with eggs and grits. Breakfast cocktails are available. 1 Hugo's
Set in a lovely historic building, Hugo's serves regional Mexican cuisine that's a far cry from typical chips-and-salsa fare. Instead, you'll discover complex flavors and textures that'll definitely shake up your expectations of south-of-the-border cookery. Gorditas come stuffed with chicken, pork, and rabbit, while quesadillas feature everything from achiote-marinated pork to Swiss chard and potatoes.
