Bangkok has been firmly entrenched on the gourmet world food map in the past several years, with spots like Nahm and Gaggan being awarded as some of the best restaurants in Asia. And the city, which already is the world capital of superb Thai food, has now expanded to include top cuisines from around the world.
The latest entry to this top tables list is 22 Kitchen & Bar, located on the 22nd floor of the Dusit Thani Hotel, serving up unique and creative pan-Pacific cuisine.
This dining destination featuring plenty of top-notch seafood and a young master chef who will be joining all the top epicureans here in the months to come.

Chef Nikolas Ramirez is half Mexican and half Hawaiian, and his repertoire reflects his cultural heritage. Following a stint at the prestigious El Encanto by Orient Express and the Wine Cask in California, Ramirez has brought his talents eastwards, and the results are mighty impressive.
22 Kitchen & Bar features seafood-dominated dishes from around the Pacific Rim, with recipes from Peruvian, Mexican, Japanese and Hawaiian tendencies dominating the menu.
The tapas sharing dishes are all knockouts, headed by fresh oysters served with kimchee puree and Asian pear sauce. There's also a scallop carpaccio with spicy aioli and ponzu sauce; a set of Chinese "bao" buns served with confit pork, salsa verde and avocado; and the best ceviche you'll find this side of Peru, made with citrus marinade tiger's milk, marinated calamari and roasted sticky rice powder, normally used in Thai "larb" salads.

Mains include langoustine with chimichurri sauce and a whole deboned sea bass served with Peruvian seafood paella. Ramirez makes an appearance with each dish, to describe its ingredients and origins and to handle any questions on cuisine, making it an incredibly personal and intimate dining experience.
As each dish appears and the taste buds get wowed, one realizes just how novel it is to have a normally staid fine dining hotel expanding its horizons into nouvelle, creative and knockout epicurean frontiers.

Even on a full stomach, make sure to sample the American-influenced s'mores dessert, made with chocolate mousse, marshmallow and graham cracker crumbs. The signature drinks come well recommended, too, like the Passionate Thunderball, made from gold tequila, passion fruit and chili.
The decor is as nice as the food, soft lighting, elegant wood tables and views out over the Bangkok cityscape and Lumphini Park. For a special event or dinner date, you can't go wrong here.
The restaurant is quite new, having just done a grand opening in the past few months, and it's worth checking out now, as it's sure to join other foodie hotspots in the coming year, leading the Bangkok gourmet revolution.
