Chili Hip, the new bar and restaurant at the posh Centara Watergate Pavillion, brings a new taste of laid-back chic to the ever vibrant Bangkok nightlife scene. This stylish eatery and drinking niche occupies a prime real estate spot, located on the 20th floor of the fancy Centara Watergate. At night, the lights of Bangkok surround in all directions.
The dapper rooftop establishment is connected by an outer staircase to the Centara's other gorgeous rooftop bar - Walk - and Chili Hip is just as cool, only it adds some great food to an already formidable drink list.
Cocktail options here range from mojitos to Singapore slings, as well as some unique local Thai-based drinks, meant to pair with the food. The Tom Yum on the Rocks combines kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass, galangal Thai ginger, lime and vodka, spiced up with a bit of chiiies.
But for those who don't like it hot, try the Tom Kha Martini, far more medicinal than heat-inducing. There is also a large list of fine wines to choose from to compliment the excellent food here.

Standout dishes from the kitchen run by Italian chef John Ranaudo include the fusion-themed spicy red curry duck-stuffed ravioli; the lamb chops fried in roasted rice batter with chill, cumin, coriander and yoghurt sauce; and the spicy salmon tartar.
Don't forget to save room for dessert, as the Chili Dome is a real winner, made of a thin chocolate dome filled with spicy chocolate mousse, served with almond croquant, mango and raspberry jelly.
As Chili Hip can only hold 64 patrons, it retains an intimate and cozy vibe. Almost all the seating is al fresco, but there is one small air conditioned room that is enclosed by glass walls, offering a private party some seclusion and a cold escape if the heat gets to be a bit too much.

This is also a great spot to unwind after work or play, as there are in-house DJs that spin tunes nightly, with a mixture of uptempo hip hop and the likes on Friday and Saturday nights, while things get a bit more subdued with soul and blues on weeknights.
The crowd here is young and well heeled, and the atmosphere is most assuredly sophisticated.
As Chili Hip is located so close to all of Bangkok's major shopping venues such as Central World, Gaysorn and Siam Paragon, it's a natural magnet for the end of a shopping trip. This rooftop restaurant and bar combines both flavorful eats, refined drinks and some great views above the city.
