Buddha Bar designer Bruno Tanquerel came in and turned owner David Jacobson’s love of vintage French into the most romantic and nostalgic period piece to ever grace Bangkok. With an imported century old zinc bar, antique lights, bourgeois red velvet sofa and chair sets and checkered tile floors, this gem will transport you to Paris a la 1900.
The setting here takes place in what was a print shop later turned into a gambling den, which then became the back kitchen of the famed Q Bar. The owner went out and hit up flea markets and furniture and antique sales throughout Paris, transporting them all over to Bangkok and creating a completely authentic Parisienne backstreets drinking den right in the heart of Thailand.

In harmony with the décor, Le Derrière is a French champagne and absinthe bar. Absinthe here comes from ten different brands, the best of which is the French Vieux Pontarlier, poured via a traditional four-spigot absinthe fountain, the liquor slowly dripping down through a sugar cube and absinthe spoon into your glass.
Manager Benoit Raynal is on hand to show you how to drink it properly and ensure that VIP guests get the best table spot with a view of the entire intimate bar. Just as impressive are the absinthe signature drinks (Le Derrière includes rum, kahlua, vodka, chili and absinthe.) and the champagnes, with bottles of Armand de Brignac Gold and Perrier Jouet Belle Epoque topping the list.

Imported French oysters are available with drinks, along with foie gras terrine, and there is a stock of Cohiba premium Cuban cigars behind the bar as well.
Come with a group to enjoy a few pre-party drinks before going to dance the night away in the adjoining Q Bar, or else come late as a wind down, enjoying the surreal colors and strange haze as you quaff down a glass or two of vintage absinthe.
