For Chinese cuisine with a bit of romance you can't beat Silver Waves. Located on the 36th Floor of the elegant Chatrium Riverside Hotel, this refined spot has to be the most panoramic destination for a Chinese meal in town. The restaurant towers above the Chao Phraya River and diners get a bird's eye view of the river and skyline to go with their bird's nest soup. Menu standouts include the Peking duck infused with Oolong tea, served with handmade pancakes and Hoisin sauce, and the moist and tender steamed snowfish served with black bean sauce. Appetizers include cold chicken or pork flavored in Chinese wine, as well as plenty of other Chinese tapas. The river views are indeed staggering here and there are private banquet rooms as well as plenty of tables around the curved main dining room, all of which ensure that the bright lights and big city on the water can be seen by all. While the emphasis is on Cantonese cuisine at Silver Waves, it does come with a modern twist, and this is certainly the place to go for that special meal high above the city.
- Waterfront Dining: "Best way to get here is via the Chatrium's free private shuttle boat, which leaves from the south end of the Saphan Taksin pier every 15-20 minutes, just a 2 minute stroll from the Saphan Taksin BTS Skytrain station."
- Best for Waterfront Dining Because: For a bird's eye view of the Chao Phraya, Silver Waves is above it all.
