Trooping of the Colors is another annual event in Bangkok that falls during December and is quite spectacular and worth catching if your'e in town during this time (usually occurring several days prior to the King's birthday on December the 5th). The event replicates the British army ceremony of the same name, and features the air force, navy, army, and the royal guards all donning incredibly colorful uniforms, high plumed hats, and getting in full regalia to pledge allegiance to the royalty and country. There's a brass band playing, a lot of protocol and fanfare, and there are some excellent photo opportunities. The surroundings out in front of the Dusit Palace are also pretty regal, and thousands of locals attend to check out the proceedings, so it has the atmosphere of a real festival.
- Holiday Attractions: "It's advisable to come early, as this event can get very crowded. As there isn't any convenient public transport to this area, it's best to take a taxi here."
- Best for Holiday Attractions Because: For Thai tradition and some great colors and costumes, check out the Trooping of the Colors parade.
