It isn't always easy to find a good piece of steak in Bangkok that is served in generous portions at fair prices, but Madison remains one of Bangkok's best choices. The restaurant has been around over a decade, and is now part of the Anantara Siam Hotel (formerly the Four Seasons), and is one of the most unpretentious and relaxed fine dining experiences in town. The menu here features Master Kobe rib eye and strip loin, made from cattle fed on 500 plus day grain fed beef, as well as Australian Darling Down Wagyu beef, but there is plenty more than just steak. The rack of lamb with porcini mushrooms is particularly mouthwatering, served medium rare and with an option of a brown butter and onions gravy or just a choice of fine French mustards and mint jelly. There is a range of fresh seafood that is also superb, most notably the Hokkaido scallops, which are served with a green pea culis sauce, which is hand poured by the attentive waiters. There is also New England clam chowder, Boston lobster, and Tasmanian salmon on offer, and portions are extremely generous here. A fine wine list of over 100 bottles from around the world accompanies the food, and the dining room is easy on the eyes, with an open kitchen and large glass panels, and the wait staff are extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and attentive, making Madison one of the better choices for a fine night out.
