Salt Lake City is gifted with incredible natural surroundings. But some sometimes the weather keeps you inside. Maybe it's too cold or too hot, or there is too much snow... or too little. If you're bummed out by the weather, or just feel like trying something new, head into The Front Climbing Club.

Salt Lake City is home to one of the largest rock climbing communities in the entire nation, and this marvelous bouldering facility reflects that. With more than 10,000 square feet of wall space and top-notch problem setting, The Front gives you the chance to get an excellent workout without even realizing it. And if you have extra time, you can also do yoga or pilates, and lift weights.

Most people have an automatic aversion to rock climbing. They're afraid of heights, are nervous about the equipment, or simply think it's inaccessible. However, bouldering at The Front eliminates all of these worries. The walls top out at 12-14 feet, and their bases are lined with continuous, thick mats. Because of these mats, you need no harness, rope, or belay skills. And you won't need to head into the wilderness to locate a cliff; this gym sits just five minutes southwest of central Downtown.

After climbing, head upstairs. You'll have to plan ahead if you want to join for any of the five weekly yoga classes, which are free with your membership (or day pass). Or perhaps you'd be interested in trying the Propulsion Pilates. Though there is an additional fee for these classes, you'll find this trendy new pilates style, with its sexy machinery and instructors, hard to turn down.

Visit The Front's website to check out the details of their class schedule, or to get a sneak peak of the facilities via their webcams. The Front (801-466-7625) is located at 1450 South 400 West Street.
