Almost everyone who travels experiences the local culture through its food at some point during their trip, whether it's snacking on churros on the beach in Mexico, sampling weinerschnitzel in Vienna, or savoring a hot bowl of pho in Hanoi. On a European vacation, consider heading to Italy–any Italian worth their salt will proudly tell you that Italy told the world how to eat, and that's not entirely hyperbolic. Naples makes for a good launching point. Even if you're burned out on pizza after traversing the rest of Italy, you'll be blown away by the pies here, in the birthplace of pizza. Most of the restaurants are certified by the Verace Pizza Napoletana trading association. Elsewhere in Italy, the Piedmont region and Sicily serve up dishes that are unique to their respective regions, and utterly delicious.
