The Mint Julep is a classic cocktail celebrating Kentucky's Bourbon-making heritage.  It is the signature drink of the Kentucky Derby in Louisville and is enjoyed in celebrations across America on the day in May when the world's fastest horses vie for the roses.

Recipe

4 fresh mint sprigs
2 1/2 oz bourbon whiskey
1 tsp powdered sugar
2 tsp water

Muddle your mint leaves, water and powdered sugar in a collins glass. Then fill the glass with crushed or shaved  ice.  Add bourbon.  Top with more ice.  Garnish with a fresh mint sprig, and serve with a straw.

This drink is known to taste better to ladies wearing hats.  (wink)
