Whether you're interested in mountain biking, serious road biking, or just some easy twists and turns through the city with your family on a sunny day, Asheville has everything you could hope for in the outdoor biking department. Home to Olympian cyclist, Lauren Tamayo, this city also prides itself on offering the best in outdoor cycling for training athletes.

The Pisgah Mountains - entrance to the Blue Ridge Parkway - offer some of the best mountain biking in the country for all ages and skill levels.  Over 40 miles of trail wind through scenic forest and near the waters of Fontana Lake. This area has been cited by Men's Journal Magazine as a prime place not only for leisure, but also for adventure.

The Swannanoa Valley- is an easy to moderate 26-mile ride that will twist you through the lush Appalachian countryside to the quaint town of Black Mountain where you can peruse handmade, local crafts.

The Velodrome- Located in Carrier Park, the Velodrome offers over one mile of looped biking in this scenic and green space. Bike races are also held regularly at the local hub for cyclists.

Finally, to see if you have what it takes to compete on the level of Lance Armstrong who tackled this path for the Tour Du Pont, follow the Beech Mountain Trail for a beautiful and challenging ride that will test your stamina and skill. Though some sections of this ride are for every skill-level, this 50-mile ride pushes your endurance and dedication.
