Wyoming is known for stunning landscapes, vast plains and is home to plentiful wildlife. Combine all of Wyoming's best attributes and you get the Pryor Mountain Wild Mustang Center, this year's USA TODAY 10Best Readers' Choice winner for Best Attraction in Wyoming.
Located in Lovell, Wyo., the Pryor Mountain Wild Mustang Center gives visitors a chance to witness wild horses in their natural surroundings and to learn about the history of the region.
It's believed that this particular herd of horses comes from Portugal and Spain and was brought to the region by Native American tribes navigating the rugged, mountain terrain. For nearly 200 years, these horses have been roaming free and have become a unique part of Wyoming's wild west heritage.
Tours give visitors the unique opportunity to spend an entire day amongst the wild horses. From 9 am to 5 pm, guests are led on a journey through preserved landscapes, complete with gorgeous vistas of the Rocky Mountain Range. Tours can be booked through the Pryor Mountain Wild Mustang Center and run from May through October. But be sure to book ahead of time as tours fill up fast!
