Not having any luck with your swipes on Tinder these days? Hoping to find a more exotic match than your next-door neighbor? The Tinder gods have answered your prayers opening up possible matches to cities of your choice–no passport required. Thanks to the GPS-based app's latest upgrade, Tinder Plus, you can peruse the globe looking for love without ever having to leave home. Even better, there's no limit on the number of likes, and if you happen to make a mistake and "accidentally" like a photo, you can hit the new rewind option.
Unfortunately, North Korea, Antarctic,a and Chad only have one user each at the moment, so you'll have to rule out any romantic rendez-vous in these parts. But don't worry, there's still 140 other countries to choose from. The U.S. tromps the list for most active ladies on the app, but set your sights further in one of these top spots for Tinder use around the globe.
Hit one of the beaches in Rio de Janeiro — Photo courtesy of Dimitry B.If you don't live in Miami and have better luck meeting a Brazilian in South America than on South Beach, now's the time to switch your location to Rio de Janeiro and start swiping! This is a hotbed of Victoria's Secret supermodels after all, so you're sure to find a spicy match who may just be sporting one of those famed Brazilian bikini bottoms while you two bask on Copacabana Beach.
Take a ride on the London Eye with your new Tinder match — Photo courtesy of Visit London Images/britainonviewLove British accents but have little chance of hearing one outside Downton Abbey? Now's your chance to find a British counterpart in a city like London. Before you know it you'll be looking into each other's eyes while riding the London Eye or strolling the River Thames. Of course you can also meet her at one of the pubs for a good old-fashioned pint of beer and fish and chips. London can be as fancy or casual as you want it, so the hardest decision you'll have to make is when to cross the pond for this chance meeting.
Montreal has a great mix of historic and modern touches — Photo courtesy of Tourisme MontréalIt's no surprise that our North American neighbor is on the list. Larger than the U.S. and China, Canada may have some areas that border on arctic, but it also has the longest coastline in the world, as well as major cosmopolitan cities like Toronto and Montreal. A quick flight to both spots and you're transported to towns with top restaurants, nightlife, art, and music, as well as French flair in Québec. The French-speaking province is the perfect stand-in for a foreign encounter if you can't get over to France.
Set your sights on visiting Sydney and cruising its landmark harbor — Photo courtesy of Ethan Rohloff/Destination NSWWhile Australia may seem like it's across the world, an app like Tinder makes it seem just minutes away. Perhaps you have a trip planned Down Under, or maybe it's always been a bucket-list destination. Either way, you'll find a reason to book a ticket to Oz after swiping through surfer babe matches in Sydney. Beautiful beaches await!
Paris has all of the right ingredients for romance here on the Île Saint-Louis — Photo courtesy of Daniel Thierry/Paris Tourist Office Ah, one of the countries known most for romance–and sexy affairs. Whether you're dreaming of holding hands eating ice cream while walking along the Seine in Paris, or brushing up on your French (you studied it in high school right?) and indulging in red wine and escargot, your future Tinder match may be able to provide this and more. At least she'll make the rendez-vous more interesting speaking with her charming French accent.
Amsterdam's Canal Ring is a romantic setting for a new fling — Photo courtesy of Ting GongLet's ignore the fact that Amsterdam has the Red Light District and instead meet matches you may actually have a (real) connection with the modern way–via social media. While the city has its sex shops and brothels, as well as its storied coffee shops, it also has quite a romantic side with cobblestoned streets and bridges, gardens, and parks, and the 17th century Canal Ring, a UNESCO World Heritage site and reason behind the city's nickname "Venice of the North."
Visit Berlin's many landmarks scattered throughout the city, like the Brandenburg Gate — Photo courtesy of visitBerlin/Wolfgang ScholvienIf Berlin hasn't been on your travel list yet, now's the time to add it. Continually ranked as one of the top cities for young people thanks to its music and art scene, as well as thumpin' nightlife, there's no lack of things to do here when you meet your new match. In terms of cities that never sleep, this one gives NYC a run for its money with late-night discotheques in the Turkish district, hipster beer gardens, and electronic music festivals.
Copenhagen is home to a burgeoning gastronomy scene — Photo courtesy of Wonderful CopenhagenWith a spotlight on Scandinavian cuisine (hello Noma!) and 15 Michelin-starred restaurants in Copenhagen alone, the Danish capital is drawing foodies in need of a fresh fix of haute cuisine. The city also has more alternative attractions like the hippie-centric free city Christiana, great for catching live music and grabbing a beer. You can always meet your match and cycle through town–day or night–going gallery hopping or visiting the classic Tivoli Gardens carnival rides, perfect for a first date meet-up.
Oslo is teeming with cultural landmarks like the Opera House on the Oslo Fjord — Photo courtesy of VisitOSLO/Roberto MeazzaNorway keeps topping lists for highest standard of living, but who would've guessed this Scandinavian country also has some of the most active ladies on Tinder? From the historical university town of Tromsø to the bustling metropolis of Oslo, there's plenty of places to find love on Tinder. Blending the modern buildings in Oslo with the beauty of the famed fjords, Norways' mix of nature, history, and culture is sure to keep things interesting when you visit the land of the Vikings. And don't worry about a language barrier–most Norwegians speak excellent English so you'll have no issue communicating.
Tulum boasts ancient ruins overlooking the beaches — Photo courtesy of Lane NiesetTacos: Check. Tequila: Check. White-sand beaches: Check. What other elements do you need for a setting to meet a future match for the first time? Spend the day exploring ancient Mayan ruins in Tulum, cruising on jet skis or simply meeting for margaritas by the beach for a date that's as adventure-filled or romantic as you want it to be. Party towns like Cabo San Lucas and Cancun are also great spots for a night on the town if you'd rather have more dancing and drinking than discussion.
