If you're ready to spend the big bucks for a romantic weekend, it's hard to beat nearby and idyllic Cavallo Point Lodge. On the north side of the Golden Gate Bridge, this newly refurbished lodge will pamper you at a price, but you'll have all of Sausalito and the Marin Headlands within walking distance.
For the more budget conscience, head south to Pigeon Point Hostel. You'll find romance there at a reasonable price - as long as you book a private room several months ahead of time. While it might not be a lodge, the hostel does have a hot tub perched on the cliffs of the Pacific, which is not a bad option for getting that special someone in the right mood.
Newly opened and well run Highway 1 Brewery is right down the road, and the hostel is on the grounds of the historic Pigeon Point lighthouse, which includes an interesting museum and novel giftshop. Besides miles and miles of jaw-dropping Pacific Coast trails, nearby Ano Nuevo State Park is home to hundreds of elephant seals, with the bulls bashing each other for the right to mate throughout the winter. Might not be the traditional candlelit table-for-two, but the natural need for pairing up is certainly on full display...!
Planning a romantic weekend getaway to the white sand beaches of Santa Barbara? For a the perfect combination of pampering and scenic views, start by booking a room at the Four Seasons Resort The Biltmore Santa Barbara or the Bacara Resort and Spa. Head into downtown on Friday night for dinner and drinks. If you like seafood, go to The Hungry Cat for the freshest local catches and enjoy some of the tastiest cocktails in town.
Get an early start on Saturday and visit the farmers market for fresh flowers, berries and more. It's the largest in the area, boasting dozens of vendors as well as live music. Then make your way to the Funk Zone, a waterfront neighborhood filled with art galleries and tasting rooms. Sample some local wines on the Urban Wine Trail before heading to The Lark for deliciously chic dinner. Just don't forget to make a reservation!

A romantic night in Chicago can involve eating a carryout Lou Malnati's deep dish pizza while sitting on the rocks at North Avenue Beach, facing the water and the lit-up skyline. But since Chicago weather often moves plans indoors, a better (but more expensive) plan is to check into the unique B&B mansion, Villa D'Citta, in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood.
For dinner, slide into a dark, private booth and enjoy cheese and chocolate fondue at Geja's Cafe, followed by some live jazz music at the legendary Green Mill Lounge. Then pop back into the hotel's outdoor hot tub.
Cruise into New York on Friday, check into the Gramercy Park Hotel overlooking charming Gramercy Park; it's not cheap but you can't possibly put a price on love. Besides, you can save money by heading up to the Metropolitan Museum of Art and taking advantage of free admission on Friday afternoon/evenings. The Metropolitan is an incredible museum full of hidden treasures guaranteed to inspire whimsy and passionate abandonment in even the most staunch individuals.
Grab dinner at the intimate and romantic One if By Land, Two if By Sea in the West Village; make an effort with your outfits, this is not a jeans and t-shirt venue.
Over the weekend check out some of the incredible sites such as the Statue of Liberty and Empire State Building, take a romantic circle-line cruise around Manhattan at nighttime and don't forget to take a long, meandering walk around Central Park.

A romantic weekend in Seattle calls for pulling out all the stops, so consider staying at Hotel Ballard, one of the city’s hottest luxury accommodation options. The hotel’s ideal location in a thriving neighborhood lends itself to enjoying culinary gems at some of Ballard’s most romantic spots (try Walrus and the Carpenter or Volterra) and afterward, relish creative cocktails at The Gerald, The Sexton or the Back Bar at Bastille.
If you're wanting to explore the downtown scene one evening, too, take in a show at The Triple Door, where mellow, acoustic music and flickering candlelight perfect the intimate experience. Make use of the daylight hours around Ballard too; relish nearby (free) activities like wandering the Ballard Locks or picnicking at sunset on the luscious sands of Golden Gardens beach.
