Junkanoo Music Festival - Nassau, Bahamas
The Junkanoo tradition in the Bahamas dates back hundreds of years and now includes art, music and dance. A parade filled with drumming, colorful floats and bands fill Bay Street in Nassau typically on Boxing Day (the day after Christmas) and on New Years in the dark wee hours of the morning. Now, the parades take place during the summer as well. Plan to stay up all night during this traditional festivity!

2012 Summer Olympics - London, UK

Athletes from nearly 200 countries will converge at Olympic Park and many other local venues such as the Velodrome and the Millennium Dome for a chance at gold. International Dragon Boat Festival - Montreal, Canada
Now in its 17th year, Montreal hosts the ever popular International Dragon Boat Festival the weekend of July 20. Attracting over 200 rowing teams from North America (with a $400 entry fee), these paddlers are serious about the glory of winning. US Open Sandcastle Competition - San Diego, CA
12 miles from San Diego, California, Imperial Beach draws amateurs and professionals alike to face the challenge of becoming dubbed "Masters Champion" at the U.S. Open Sandcastle Competition. Visitors will delight in seeing the intricate and playful images form, as teams chisel and spray to achieve their ultimate sculpture. Other activities include a Sandcastle Dance featuring live music and a street festival lasting all weekend.
