  • Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey

    Istanbul, Turkey

Featured in From Russia With Love, the Hagia Sophia in Istanbul, Turkey has been an Orthodox basilica, a mosque and now a museum. The structure with its massive Byzantine dome revolutionized architecture and was the largest Christian church in the world up until the sixteenth century.

  • Monastery of the Holy Trinity in Meteora, Greece

    Meteora, Greece

During the filming of For Your Eyes Only at the clifftop monastery in Meteora, Greece, the resident monks holed themselves up inside and attempted to sabotage the film crews by hanging laundry out the windows and covering the monastery exterior with plastic flags. The six monasteries of Meteora are not for the faint of heart, as they are each accessible via a steep (and sometimes slippery) set of steps cut into the rock.

  • Grand Canal in Venice, Italy

    Venice, Italy

Called "a fairy city of the heart" by Lord Byron, Venice epitomizes romance. Maybe that's why the canals of Venice were featured in three Bond films: Casino Royale, Moonraker and From Russia With Love. Follow in the footsteps of the great spy with a gondola ride through the canals (minus the gunfights)

  • La Paz, Bolivia

    La Paz, Bolivia

In the latest Bond film, Quantum of Solace, 007 spends significant time in and around the Bolivian capital of La Paz as he tries to save the country's water supply from the villainous Quantum organization. The stark and serenely beautiful landscape of La Paz serves to highlight the colorful markets and friendly people.

  • Sugarloaf Mountain, Rio De Janeiro, Brazil

    Rio de Janeiro, Brazil

In Moonraker, James Bond meets astronaut and Bond Girl Dr. Holly Goodhead atop the Sugarloaf Mountain in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil where they are attacked by an assassin on the cable car to the top. Taking the cable car to the top of Sugarloaf Mountain provides a 360-degree view of the surrounding city, and if the cable car is too tame, the mountain is one of the most popular urban rock climbing spots in the world.

  • Phang Nga Bay, Thailand

    Phang Nga Bay, Thailand

Koh Ping Kan in Phang Nga Bay, Thailand, known by locals as James Bond Island, features unique limestone karst formations that served as assassin Francisco Scaramanga's hideout in The Man with the Golden Gun. The movie turned the previously little known island into a major tourist attraction a short boat ride away from Phuket.

  • The Strip at night in Las Vegas, Nevada

    Las Vegas, Nevada

While the Whyte House casino where James Bond hits the craps tables with Plenty O'Toole in the film Diamonds Are Forever was fictional, the cast and crew did film in eight different Las Vegas hotels with the Hilton doubling as the Whyte House. Scenes from the movie that took place in South Africa were actually filmed in the deserts surrounding Las Vegas as well.
