New Kid On The Block: A Peek Inside Boston's Brand New Envoy Hotel
Marriott's Autograph Collection has expanded to Boston for the first time ever. Their inaugural property, The Envoy Hotel, occupies waterfront land in the city's Seaport neighborhood. It's the creation of Boston-based design firm, Group One Partners, Inc.
Enter street level where a message, “this way forward,” etched in bronze on the sidewalk, greets guests and passes them along to the lobby. The bright, communal space is lit dramatically overhead with a low-hanging chandelier (it's made of reclaimed materials, including rope and phone cords) and plush, tufted deep blue couches.
In the bathrooms, sliding glass doors are etched with a large-scale reinterpretation of an antique map of Boston. As a nod to the local community, all bathrooms are equipped with Fresh products, a company founded in Boston that is dedicated to producing soaps with all natural ingredients.
In the hotel restaurant, Outlook Kitchen and Bar, the unique design elements are continued throughout the space. Look for a floor-to-ceiling rope wall and an abstract lighting fixture that represents the city lights reflected across the harbor. Executive chef David Verdo prepares American dishes inspired by the local cuisine and the bounty of the surrounding land.
On the top of the building, at Lookout Rooftop Bar, expect dramatic views of Boston's skyline. There's an abundance of seating for guests to enjoy a menu of craft cocktails and local beers, including a seasonal house brew created especially for the property by locally loved Harpoon Brewery.
