    Dutch Kills, an emerging neighborhood in New York's Long Island City, has a new kid on the block in the form of a design-centric boutique hotel.

    The space is designed by New York City-based design firm, Grzywinski + Pons. The team, Matthew Grzywinski and Amador Pons, is also responsible for The Nolitan hotel in New York City's Nolita neighborhood and Urban Villa in London, amongst others.

  • Boro Hotel

    Boro Hotel is composed of 108 guestrooms, studios and public spaces. The minimal interiors reflect the building's original concrete and cinderblock bones.

    Some of the smaller touches throughout the space include hand-scraped oak floors, painted pallet wood paneling and furnishings made of leather, cork and natural fibers like sisal.

    Not one of the 108 rooms are exactly along, some have terraces and balconies while others showcase beautiful, floor-to-ceiling windows. The rooms range from 200 to 600 square feet.

    Several of the guest bathrooms feature freestanding bath basins with sweeping views of Queens, and all have natural, holistic bath products from APIVITA, imported from Greece.

    The lobby on the hotel's ground floor features a large, communal table where guests check themselves in upon arrival. And for after hours, hi-speed Wi-Fi is offered throughout.

    For socializing, the lobby is equipped with a modern firepit encircled with seating for guests. A small collection of books on display for guest use include selections from Strand Bookstore and various newspaper.

    Adjacent the firepit is a café bar set up to serve guests specialty coffee drinks, cocktails, wine, small snacks and complimentary breakfast every morning.
