Oftentimes our first impressions of a new beer, chosen out of the myriad options now available at just about any grocer or bottle shop, come from the branding. A good beer label stands out from the crowd, piques our curiosity and represents the beer contained behind the label.

  • Prague Underground

    Prague Underground
    CityBuilt Brewing

We love the bold color and intricate patterns of this label from City Built Brewing Company in Grand Rapids. Pilsners originated in the Czech Republic, and this one features a herbal spicy note from the Saaz hops.

  • You're Fired!

    You're Fired!
    Call to Arms Brewing Company

The infamous catchphrase from reality TV’s The Apprentice takes center stage on the label of this American IPA from Call to Arms Brewing Company. The brewers made the beer (and the label, designed by Andrew Geppelt) to bring a bit of levity to an otherwise difficult state of affairs.

  • Sea For Yourself

    Sea For Yourself
    Vitamin Sea Brewing

The nautical motif on this New England IPA is true-to-brand for Vitamin Sea Brewing while inviting drinkers to experience for themselves the Citra, Amarillo and Ekuanot hops within.

  • Fuck 2020

    Fuck 2020
    Abomination Brewing

All of us who lived through 2020 can understand the appeal of this label from Abomination Brewing Company. Sam Heimer created the art for this double dry-hopped IPA – a fitting way to toast farewell to a pretty lousy year.

  • Bimini Bay

    Bimini Bay
    Tripping Animals Brewing

It’s hard to narrow down the best Tripping Animals beer label to just one, but our panel of experts singled out Bimini Bay with its dazed squid atop a psychedelic background of swirling pinks and greens. The beer itself is a dry-hopped IPA made with Amarillo, Azacca and Ekuanot hops.

  • Wander On

    Wander On
    Saint Errant Brewing

This hazy IPA from Saint Errant Brewing is made with Galaxy and Mosaic hops and an equally bold label that takes inspiration from the Slavic folktale of the house of the witch Baba Yaga that wanders through the forest on chicken legs.

  • Remedy

    Remedy
    Housatonic River Brewing

Many of us have found solace in the great outdoors during this past year, so the scene of a tent and campfire next to a wandering river seems like a fitting illustration for Remedy. This double stout comes from Housatonic River Brewing in Connecticut with label art by Magge Gagliardi.

  • Pump It Up

    Pump It Up
    Fifth Frame Brewing Co.

The Citra, Simcoe, Idaho 7 and Amarillo hops in this Double New England IPA from Fifth Frame Brewing Co. are sure to get any IPA-lover’s heart pumping.

  • Quiet Car

    Quiet Car
    Eight & Sand Beer Co.

Sometimes you just want a quiet moment to enjoy a cold beer. If the monks on the label are any indication, you’re sure to enjoy this Belgian-style dubbel from Eight & Sand.

  • Don Dada Cardamom Stout

    Don Dada Cardamom Stout
    Spaceway Brewing Co.

The term “don dada” is used in Jamaican Patwah to refer to the Don of all dons, the highest ranking boss, the most respected person in the room. The Don Dada Cardamom Stout from Spaceway Brewing Company certainly captures attention with its bold label portrait (and equally bold flavors of smoky bourbon, orange and cardamom).
