Some auto shows look to the past in celebration of classic cars, while others set their sights on the future with cutting edge technology and the latest reveals. Hundreds of these events take place across the nation each year, so we've asked a panel of automotive experts to nominate their 20 favorites. Then we turned it over to you, our readers, to vote for your fave events.

  • Back To The 50's

    Back To The 50's
    St. Paul

    The Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul hosts Back To The 50's each summer – a celebration of hot rods, customs and classics with nearly 12,000 registered vehicles. The event also includes live 50's music, a flyover and a gigantic swap meet, as well as activities and games for kids and 'tweens.

  • Iola Car Show

    Iola Car Show
    Iola, Wis.

    Car enthusiasts attending the annual Iola Car Show in Wisconsin are treated to 300 acres of showcase space filled with more than 2,200 show cars and one of the region's biggest swap meets. The Car Corral features an additional 1,000 cars for sale – everything from show cars to fixer-uppers.

  • Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance

    Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance
    Fernandina Beach, Fla.

    Since 1996, Fernandina Beach has hosted the annual Amelia Concours d'Elegance – a beauty pageant for rare and vintage cars featuring more than 300 vehicles from collections around the world. Proceeds from the charitable event go toward charities on Florida’s First Coast.

  • EyesOn Design

    EyesOn Design
    Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.

    Staged at the beautiful Edsel & Eleanor Ford Estate in Grosse Pointe Shores near Detroit, EyesOn Design showcases 200 to 300 invitation-only vehicles curated based on an annual theme. Other special exhibits feature concept cars and production vehicles from the previous year's auto show circuit.

  • Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival

    Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival
    Hilton Head, S.C.

    Each October, the Hilton Head Island Motoring Festival & Concours d'Elegance showcases more than 500 classic cars, boats, aircraft and motorcycles. Signature events include the Car Club Showcase and Concours d'Elegance, both hosted at the Port Royal Golf Club.

  • The Elegance at Hershey

    The Elegance at Hershey
    Hershey, Penn.

    The Elegance At Hershey is a weekend celebration of exquisite automobiles from a bygone era. Events include a vintage hill climb to the Hotel Hershey, an auction and the signature garden party where the world's finest collector cars are on display.

  • Washington Auto Show

    Washington Auto Show
    Washington, DC

    More than 600 vehicles from 35 manufacturers are on display at the annual Washington Auto Show in the nation's capital. The 10-day public show includes classic car displays, cutting edge model cars, auto tech exhibits and celebrity appearances.

    While the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas started out as (and remains) much more than a car show, it has become one of the most important events for scoping out new concept cars and car tech in the industry.

  • New York International Auto Show

    New York International Auto Show
    New York

    Since the New York International Auto Show debuted as the nation's first automotive exhibition in 1900, it has grown to become the largest-attended show in North America. Four floors of exhibit space display some 1,000 cars and trucks.

  • Los Angeles Auto Show

    Los Angeles Auto Show
    Los Angeles

    When the Los Angeles Auto Show takes over the Los Angeles Convention Center, attendees are treated to 760,000 square feet of exhibit space filled with international and national debuts, concept cars and a showcase of mobility tech, including hoverboards, rocket skates, e-bikes, mobility apps and wearables.

A panel of experts partnered with 10Best editors to picked the initial 20 nominees, and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote. Experts Eddie Alterman (Car and Driver) and John Davis (MotorWeek) were chosen based on their knowledge and experience of the automotive world.
