Grand Anse Beach wins title of Best Caribbean Beach!

Pink Sand Beach, Grace Bay, Tropic of Cancer Beach and Meads Bay also winners

Beach junkies and sun lovers will find some of the world's most spectacular stretches of sand on the islands of the Caribbean. With so many palm tree-lined, silky sand expanses leading down to warm, azure water, it's hard to narrow it down to just 20. But that's the task we gave our panel of Caribbean travel experts.

  • Grand Anse Beach
    Grenada

Many a visitor to the Caribbean's Spice Island never leave the 2-mile stretch of creamy white sand known as Grand Anse Beach. Located conveniently close to St. George's, the beach has an old Caribbean feel, plenty of room for walking and loads of restaurants, hotels and shops to meet any beach-goer's needs.

  • Pink Sand Beach
    Harbour Island, Bahamas

Located on the eastern Atlantic side of Harbour Island, Pink Sand Beach delivers on its name with three miles of 50- to 100-foot wide pale pink sand. Outlying reefs make the beach safe for swimming and snorkeling.

  • Grace Bay
    Turks and Caicos

On the north side of Providenciales in Turks and Caicos sits 12-mile-long Grace Bay, a long stretch of sand lined with excellent resorts and tourist services. The endless (and unbelievably soft) white sand and mesmerizing turquoise water are often rather quiet, as there isn't a cruise ship in sight.

  • Tropic of Cancer Beach
    Little Exuma, Bahamas

The longest beach on Little Exuma, Tropic of Cancer Beach sits right along the eponymous line, and while it's one of the most beautiful in the Bahamas, visitors often have the crescent of sugar white sand all to themselves.

  • Meads Bay
    Anguilla

Wide and expansive Meads Bay is home to many of Anguilla's top resorts and restaurants, and it's easy to see why. This north shore stretch of sand punctuated by an often photographed tamarind tree ranks among the island's most visually impressive and an excellent spot to watch a sunset.

  • Shoal Bay
    Anguilla

Shaded by coconut trees, two-mile-long Shoal Bay Beach is no stranger to the top of the world's best beaches lists. Broad with gentle water, Shoal Bay is popular with families, and a reef just offshore makes it an excellent snorkeling spot as well.

  • Long Bay Beach
    Providenciales, Turks and Caicos

Long Bay Beach stretches for three miles along the south coast of Providenciales. The calm water remains shallow – only two to four feet deep – going out thousands of feet, making it a popular spot for wading. It's also the most popular kiteboarding destination on the island.

  • Cas Abao Beach
    Curacao

White sand, clear waters, gently waving palms and many amenities make Cas Abao a paradise for swimmers, sunbathers and snorkelers alike. Visitors to this Curacao beach can even get a surfside massage.

  • Maundays Bay
    Anguilla

This mile-long white sand beach is a stellar swimming spot (and also excellent for a long, romantic walk on the shore). Beachside tents offer food, drinks and massages.

  • Eagle Beach
    Aruba

Aruba's widest beach is also one of it's most spectacular, thanks to its blindingly white sand, warm Caribbean waters and some of the island's most famous (and photographed) fofoti trees.

Congratulations to all these winning beaches!

A note on Irma and Maria: The 2017 hurricane season greatly impacted the Caribbean, with hurricanes Irma and Maria leaving destruction in their wakes. Where some islands were able to bounce back quickly, recovery continues on others. Each of our nominees in this contest is either currently open to visitors or has an expected opening date in 2018.
