Nordic skiing, downhill's more cardio-centric cousin, has exploded in popularity as a fun way to get fit and enjoy some of North America's most stunning winter scenery. We asked three Olympians (all current or former members of the U.S. Nordic Ski Team) to nominate their favorite cross country resorts in North America. For the past four weeks, USA TODAY 10Best readers have been voting for their faves, and the results are in!
The top 10 winners in the category Best Cross Country Ski Resort are as follows:

- Royal Gorge Cross Country Resort - Soda Springs, Calif.
- Jackson Ski Touring Center - Jackson, N.H.
- Mount Bachelor Nordic Center - Bend, Ore.
A panel of experts picked the initial 20 nominees, and the top 10 winners were determined by popular vote. Experts Sadie Bjornsen, Holly Brooks, andSophie Caldwell were chosen based on their extensive cross country skiing experience.

Holly Brooks is a two-time Olympian and former US Ski Team member. Holly grew up in Seattle, where she was a mediocre junior and collegiate racer, before moving to Alaska in search of snow and a job as a full-time coach. She surprised everyone (including herself!) when she qualified for the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics. Holly was part of the first-ever women's XC relay team to medal at the World Cup and last year, finished third in the World for Marathon ski racing. In her spare time she volunteers for health initiatives including Fast and Female and Healthy Futures - inspiring the next generation to lead healthy, active lifestyles!

Sophie Caldwell is a 25 year old cross country ski racer on the U.S. Ski Team. She is from Peru, VT and attended the Stratton Mountain School for high school. After high school, Sophie attended and raced for Dartmouth college for four years where she earned two NCAA podiums. After graduating from Dartmouth, Sophie decided to pursue ski racing full time and joined the professional SMS T2 racing team based out of Stratton, VT. In the spring of 2012, Sophie was named to the U.S. Ski Team and has been on the national team since. In 2014, Sophie attended her first Olympics in Sochi and placed 6th in the skate sprint, the best finish ever for a female cross country skier at the Olympics. Sophie has begun her 2015/16 season on the World Cup with two top ten sprint results and is looking forward to the rest of the World Cup competitions this season.
