    Guests of the Historic Hotel Bethlehem can learn about the hotel’s storied history in the Lower Lobby. A hotel has occupied the site since 1741, though the structure was used as a convalescence home for World War I soldiers for a period. Today, guests enjoy modern amenities in this historic setting in the heart of Moravian Bethlehem.

  • The Peabody Memphis

    The Peabody Memphis
    Memphis, Tennessee

    The grande dame of Southern hotels, the historic Peabody, is a treat for the senses; opulence abounds, a dynamite restaurant pleases the palate and the famed ducks entertain both adults and children at this hotel dating back to 1869 (it's been at its current location since 1925). The old time-y pool area is a throwback to the glamour days of indoor hotel pools.

  • Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa

    Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa
    Point Clear, Alabama

    The Grand Hotel Golf Resort & Spa on the Alabama coast first opened its doors in 1847 with 40 rooms. Since then, the hotel served as a hospital during the Civil War and a host for training operations during both World War I and II. The Grand honors this military history daily by firing its cannon at the edge of Mobile Bay.

  • Hotel Du Pont

    Hotel Du Pont
    Wilmington, Delaware

    Begun in 1908, the Italian Renaissance headquarters of the Du Pont chemical corporation dominated the downtown section of Wilmington, Delaware. French and Italian craftsmen provided ornate Old World elegance in the European-style hotel. An expansion in 1913 converted the original area into the Hotel Du Pont. Now with 217 rooms and suites, the hotel blends the luxury of a bygone era with modern world touches.

  • The Wentworth Mansion

    The Wentworth Mansion
    Charleston, South Carolina

    Located in charming Downtown Charleston, Wentworth Mansion offers 21 luxe rooms in one of the city's grandest estates. The hotel, built in 1886, had its start as the private mansion of a wealthy cotton merchant. Touches include Italian crystal chandeliers, marble fireplaces, gas fireplaces, day beds, over-sized whirlpool tubs and walk-in showers.

  • The Francis House

    The Francis House
    Calistoga, California

    Napa Valley’s newest luxury inn occupies a National Register of Historic Places-designated building in Calistoga. The former family home for merchant James H. Francis features authentic French Second Empire architecture, restored to its original splendor after spending 52 years uninhabited.

  • Grand Hotel

    Grand Hotel
    Mackinac Island, Michigan

    Guests at the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island might find themselves on rocking chairs on the world's longest porch overlooking the Straits of Mackinac. This historic hotel opened in 1887 to cater to summer vacationers from Chicago Montreal and Detroit. In 1895, Mark Twain gave lectures in the Grand Hotel Casino for $1 a ticket.

    The Broadmoor
    Colorado Springs, Colorado

    The history of The Broadmoor – an iconic hotel in Colorado Springs – dates back to 1918 when it welcomed its first guests. John D. Rockefeller was the hotel's first celebrity guest, staying the night of June 1, 1918. Today, the 5,000-acre resort offers a full-service spa, three golf courses and a stellar hotel restaurant, The Penrose Room.

  • Hotel Trundle

    Hotel Trundle
    Columbia, South Carolina

    Three buildings in downtown Columbia, South Carolina, dating back as far as 1914, were brought back to life in 2018 by young husband-and-wife architects and combined to create the Hotel Trundle. With 41 eccentric guestrooms, this boutique gem hints at its past with exposed brick, trusses, and original windows mixed with luxurious amenities, locally sourced art, and attention to customer service. Every city deserves a treat like this one.

  • The Royal Hawaiian Resort, Waikiki

    The Royal Hawaiian Resort, Waikiki
    Honolulu, Hawaii

    Built during the Roaring Twenties as one of the first sizeable Hawaiian resort hotels, this vast pink Spanish/Moorish property immediately doubled the number of hotel rooms on Waikiki and changed Hawaiian tourism forever. Today, with 528 guestrooms and suites, three restaurants, and fifteen acres of gardens, it has symbolized Hawaii in movies and television programs for almost a century.
