Best Horse Racing Track
The Charles Town Races, now known as the Hollywood Casino at Charles Town Races, was the first horse racing track to open in West Virginia – in December and right in the midst of the Great Depression. It survived that rocky start and remains one of the area's popular spots to see the ponies run. It's also one of the unique Eastern tracks, in that races are run here throughout the year, even in the winter months. Its most famous race is the West Virginia Breeders Classics, which occurs every October.
