There's something undeniably romantic about escaping to the Caribbean tropics, and after four weeks of voting, USA TODAY 10Best readers have crowned their top destination for an intimate escape, Nevis! Uncrowded and old-fashioned, rustic Nevis is about as unspoiled as the Caribbean gets – a perfect place to get away with that special someone.

    Nevis

Nevis, one half of the 'Sisters of the Caribbean,' is uncrowded and old-fashioned, an island of rustic charm, golden sand beaches and lovely plantation manors for touring, dining or spending the night.  This is just about as unspoiled as it gets in the Caribbean.

The lack of cruise ships lends a sense of seclusion to third place Anguilla, while number four St. Lucia scores big for its stellar scenery and luxurious resorts. The French-flavored cultural heritage of Martinique helped earn the island in the Lesser Antilles a fifth place finish.
